Bio: Worked in mental health/social work since 1971. Accredited by the BAC, then UKCP as a neurolinguistic psychotherapist. Became ill with ME in 1986, now very much recovered, but still subject to relapses if I do too much. Especially because I pride myself on being an effective psychotherapist, and because I know ME is a physical complaint, I am particularly enraged by the injustice suffered by ME/CFS sufferers who are mistakenly labelled as having a mental health problem. Hope to complete a Ph.D. on the conflicting paradigms concerning this illness. In the meantime keeping up on the medical and political developments. The medical developments are promising, the political situation is appalling. I have written a book especially for patients who have just become ill, urging them to take the treatment recommended by the early experts - as near as they can get to complete rest. And advising them to keep well away from CBT and GET if at all possible.
